Annie
Aitken has been designing and crafting stained glass windows for
seven years. During which time she has taken on several commissions.
She graduated in 1979 gaining a BA in Art and Drama (specialising
in Screenprinting) at Bretton Hall College, affiliated to Leeds
University.
After discovering her delight in the illuminating qualities of
light through glass, she trained with glass artist Kathy Shaw
at The City Lit, in
Fleet Street and for 3 years at Stockwell Arts School. Annie then
furthered her studies with Tim Cunliffe at Hammersmith and Fulham
College.
Annie has won Best Stained Glass for her 'Eagle in 2008 and 'Icarus-Burnt
by the Sun' in 2010 at the H & F Summer Exhibitions.
More recently, her stained glass panel 'Vivienne's Shoe' has been
accepted at the 'Inspired by' Exhibition at the 'V&A', to
be displayed
between October 2nd and November 21st 2010 in Rooms 17 and 18a
on the Ground Floor.
Annie draws her inspiration from a wide range of artists from
Matisse and Chagall to the more contemporary work of Tom Denny
and Ed Carpenter. |
